The table highlights all of the non Marvel/DC/DarkHorse material. Which brings up some interesting statistics:
Number of non-Marvel/DC/DarkHorse awards given:
Percentage of non-Marvel/DC/DarkHorse awards given:
- Harvey: 60% (12/20)
- Eisner: 36% (8/22)
And for those of you who think of Dark Horse (by which we do just mean Mr. Mignola for these purposes) as being more indie-friendly, here's the straight Marvel/DC numbers.
Number of non-Marvel/DC awards given:
Number of non-Marvel/DC awards given:
- Harvey: 65% (13/20)
- Eisner: 45% (10/22)
Now, I realize it is a little silly to equate mainstream as Marvel/DC, but that is the state of the industry at this time. No matter how you look at it, though, the popular wisdom of the Harveys being less Marvel/DC focused seems to carry out this year, although they do give Krazy and Ignatz 2 separate awards and we were forced to count "Mutts" as an indie award for this analysis.
