I finally got around to seeing Ang Lee's "Hulk" the other day. Overall it did seem tired and unsure of itself, but I thought there was one interesting interpretation - viewing the Hulk as a metaphor for terrorism. I know, this is probably far from anyone's intent making the movie (although I didn't have the time or patience to sit through the movie again with the commentary track on) but it gave me something to think about. But here's the premise: misguided military experiments create the potential for danger. Government tries to coverup situation until they decide they have to throw all the military force they can against it. Many valuable things are destroyed and the military force only seems to make the enemy more dangerous and destructive. The danger is only defeated when someone who empathizes with the enemy is used to help pacify it. OK, I can't really extend this to the whole bizarre fight sequence with the father at the end. Weren't we all just supposed to ignore that part of the movie anyways?
