Things I Learned from my Grandparents
I was in Oregon last weekend for the memorial service of my grandmother (step-grandmother, actually, but I don't like the sound of that phrase) and realized that she and my grandfather had been a good example to me. Hearing all the stories that people told about the impact she had on their lives was amazing.
So, in hopes of me remembering some of these things:
- It is never too late to start something new.
- Travel a lot, take road trips, and don't be afraid to go to new places.
- Respect people who choose the path less chosen.
- Read a lot.
- Pay attention to current events.
- There is no such thing as a stranger - talk to people, ask them questions.
- Get involved in things you think are important.
- Get your friends involved in things you think are important - this is how change happens.
- It is ok to be friends with people that don't agree with you.
- Stay in touch with your friends.
- Exercise regularly.
- Learn a foreign language.
- Keep up with technology.
- Find out how to do things.
