Bugs on Mars!

OK, just the software kind. This article describes the software problems on the Mars rover. It is always the simple little things that mess you up, like file deleting utilities, I guess. Aren't they supposed to have some kind of process in place to prevent this? I am glad they got it all working, though!

Are SUVs safe?

This article looks at the actual safety of SUVs compared to other cars. It makes the point that "active safety" (the ability to avoid collisions) is as important as "passive safety" (the ability to survive a collision). If you don't feel like reading the whole article, at least scroll down to the chart comparing the fatality rates for different cars for both the driver of the car and for people hit by the car. My little Civic is higher than I would like for driver fatalities, but still better than a Toyota 4Runner or Ford Explorer. I'll have to try to find similar research before I buy my next car.

V-Day

OK, so the one personal thing I would like to mention: I had the best Valentine's Day I have had in a long time this year. I hope that next year's will be even better! Although this year's had the right amount of planning and spontenaity and luck and snuggling, which will make it difficult to beat. Perhaps the rules just need to be improved slightly...

Fresh Baked Bread

I have a bread machine, which I finally started using after it made it out to CA. It is nice to have a girlfriend that encourages my bread habit. I'm still working out my ideal recipe, but I can get into the habit of having fresh baked bread regularly...

Hot chocolate

What you really want is the hot chocolate they pour in Chocolat, though.

Melt, melt, melt...
