Today is the third anniversary of my little site! Happy birthday, site. My, how things have changed! Well, perhaps not the color scheme.

Raw Numbers
The Statistical Abstract of the United States for 2003 is now available. And I already used it to learn why the South gets so much attention during election time - the South has more people than the Northeast, Midwest, or West. By a lot.

Movie Review: Mix Tape (Root)
Jefferson Root's Mix Tape was showing as part of the NoisePop film festival. It was a very entertaining story of guys making mix tapes for desired girlfriends, ex-girlfriends, and occasionally actual girlfriends. The production quality of the movie wasn't that great (not sure how much was a result of the sound and projection set up at ATA since it was my first time there) with some scenes being really hard to hear, some having extremely dark lighting, and occasional dubbing mismatches or distorted frame rates. But that didn't really matter because most of the cast did a great job, especially the two leads, and they were given a lot of funny material to work with. The movie captured a lot of everyday moments that are easy to relate to but kept it funny without sacrificing too much believability. And it did reveal an important truth: boys take mix tapes more seriously than girls. I'm excited for the sequel, especially if it has a little bit bigger budget so I can hear all the dialogue in every scene, even if it will need to be about mix cds.
