Programming Heroes

I am not sure what my full list of programmer heroes would be, but somewhere on there would definitely be Ward Cunningham, for his contributions to the pattern community and, of course, creating the idea of the wiki. he works for microsoft now, and they have some videos of an interview with him, including one where he describes how he came up with the idea of the wiki. Neat. Still seems strange to me that he works for microsoft, though. Oh well. What was the Harry Shearer line? "Yep, I work for Bill Gates, and someday so will you!"

Translation

Survey results about the most difficult words to translate. I wonder what context is missing for the ones that are provided with 1 word translations. I do hope to see increased usage of words like "pochemuchka" or "altahmam".

I'm hungry, let's get a burrito

I will certainly miss the variety of this place. On my walk to go get a burrito today (which is only, maybe 3 blocks) I not only got to see the usual assortment of young hipsters, old hippies, homeless people, advertising for gay chat lines, dogs tied up outside of the stores, and parents with all manner of unusal child-carrying devices, but also a guy with a big green parrot on his shoulder and a middle aged asian woman working on her laptop, which was balanced on top of a free newspaper box. Maybe she wanted to use the Starbuck's internet connection without having to go inside? That doesn't really make sense, since the free internet access is just down the street.
